Amanda Rea DNP, CRNP is the Lead of Advanced Practice and the Clinical Program Manager for the Division of Cardiac Surgery at University of Maryland St Joseph Medical Center. She has 20+ years of critical care and cardiac surgery experience.
At UMSJMC she co-developed the Cardiac Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program which is focused on group learning, standard work, and improving patient outcomes. She chairs the multidisciplinary integrated care committee at her facility which tracks process measures and programmatic performance. In 2023 Amanda was names Nurse Practitioner of the Year by The Daily Record.
External to her organization Amanda is chair of goal directed therapy workgroup with the Perfect Care regional collaboration project and co-chairs the ERAS Cardiac multidisciplinary meeting. She sits on the advisory board and virtual training center editorial board for the ERAS Cardiac Society. She is also a member of STS critical care workforce, Maryland Cardiac Surgery Quality Initiative (MCSQI) and has participated in multiple Perioperative Quality Initiative (POQI) publication expert consensus. She has published on multiple areas related to Enhanced Recovery. Amanda has lectured internationally on topics related to Cardiac ERAS, team building, goal directed therapy and patient blood management.
