Longer hospital stays do not prevent readmissions. So what actually does?Episode 9 of The Cardiac Recovery Room produced by @ctsnet covers readmission risk factors, cardiac rehabilitation, remote monitoring, and the role of patient engagement in recovery after cardiac surgery.Link in bio to listen.#ERASCardiac #CardiacRecoveryRoom #CardiacSurgery #CardiacRehabilitation #ReadmissionReduction

ERAS Cardiac Recommendation: The Usage of Goal-Directed Fluid TherapyPostoperative fluid management plays a crucial role in recovery after cardiac surgery. Both inadequate and excessive fluid administration can contribute to complications.Evidence supports the use of goal-directed fluid therapy to optimize hemodynamic status and guide individualized fluid administration. This approach has been associated with shorter hospital stays, lower infection rates, and a reduced frequency of low cardiac output syndrome. This is a Class I (Strong) ERAS Cardiac recommendation.A targeted, physiology-driven approach to fluid management is a practical step care teams can take to support recovery and improve postoperative outcomes.Read the full recommendation here: https://tr.ee/xvSAm2AMCu

Congratulations to ERAS Cardiac European Leadership Council Member Serdar Gunaydin, MD, PhD, whose invited article on perioperative neurocognitive dysfunction (POCD) was featured in the Quarter 2, 2026 issue of AmSECT Today, published by @amsectperfusion.The piece examines POCD as a well-recognized complication following cardiac surgery, with reported incidence rates ranging from 26 to 52 percent, and explores gaseous microemboli as a major contributor to postoperative cognitive impairment. Prof. Gunaydin also shares findings on hypobaric cardiopulmonary bypass, an emerging strategy associated with reduced ICU and hospital stays and improved postoperative neurocognitive outcomes in preliminary study data. This work reflects exactly the kind of evidence-based inquiry driving enhanced recovery forward.#ERASCardiac #CardiacSurgery #EnhancedRecovery #Neurocognition #PerioperativeCare
