A recent study offers insight into how patients experience enhanced recovery after cardiac surgery. In a prospective, single-center study of 191 consecutive patients undergoing cardiac surgery with ERAS, patients reported that discussions with the surgical team were their most useful source of information. Patients also expected to recover more independently in the first month than they actually did.By 6 months, physical and mental health scores had improved compared with baseline. The findings support the value of preoperative education, prehabilitation, and clear recovery guidance in cardiac ERAS.Link to full publication in bio.#ERASCardiac #EnhancedRecovery #PatientExperience #Prehabilitation
